The Northern California (NorCal) Chapter has been involved with researching ecological building systems and materials. It hosts a monthly lecture series and publishes the West Coast Architectural Resource Guide and Data Base. The chapter has helped establish a Green Resource Center in partnership with the Berkeley Environmental Economy Partnership and the City of Berkeley. The center provides information and consulting on ecological design, appropriate building technologies, sustainable development and eco-efficiency. |

The GreenMap System developed by Wendy Brawer of ADPSR/New York locates environmental and ecological sites using a common language of icons. ADPSR is a non-profit sponsor of the GreenMap System. Ninety nine cities around the world have developed greenmaps or have them under development. The New York Chapter sponsored a Mapping the Green forum which featured a GreenMaps exhibition. New York Chapter members represent ADPSR and ARCPeace as non-governmental organizations at the United Nations. Several were delegates at the Conference on Social and Economic Development in Copenhagen and the Habitat II Conference in Istanbul. ADPSR and ARCPeace representatives will also be attending the UN Conference for Sustainable Development in 1999. | |
