memorial scholarship fund

The David Kibbey Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Northern California chapter of Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR-Nor Cal ) to further the study of healthy built environments that contribute to human well-being and ecological balance. The scholarship will allow students and professionals to broaden their understanding of systems, methods and materials that can prevent Environmental Illness and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. We are seeking solutions to problems of poor indoor air quality, electro-magnetic fields, molds, and other environmental toxins.

David Kibbey was an indoor air quality specialist and proponent of natural ecological building, a beloved core member of ADPSR, and editor/publisher of Nor Cal ADPSR's Architectural Resource Guide.

The scholarship is open to United States residents in graduate, post-graduate and independent study, with a priority given to those applicants showing need, a history of involvement in the field of healthy building, and promise of continuing practical application of their studies.

Applicants are encouraged to consider aspects of ecological construction that have not received adequate research attention. Studies related to natural systems, by which no company or industry stands to benefit, are of particular interest to ADPSR-Nor Cal.

One or two scholarships of approximately $2,500 will be awarded this cycle.
