EcoDwelling: A New College of California - North Bay BA and MA Program Concentration
EcoDwelling is a 3-semester Concentration offered through New College of California North Bay Campus' (Santa Rosa) Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Community program. New College offers accredited BA completion and MA degrees, with additional concentrations in Ecological Agriculture, Painting in the Landscape, and Consciousness, Healing, and Ecology.
The EcoDwelling Concentration is a holistic approach to dwelling in the broadest sense "encompassing the very nature of existence and being" and the entire process by which we inhabit our ecosystems and the planet. It is concerned with the causes of our current dwelling process failure, the principles of success, and the application of principles in the design of equitable, sustainable, universally affordable alternatives. The Concentration provides students with an opportunity to implement vision, theory and design for radically affordable, sustainable means of dwelling, through lecture, discussion, design projects, and hands-on building with cob, strawbales, and other natural materials. The EcoDwelling Concentration is intended for anyone with an interest in any aspect of the dwelling process and its relationship to the whole. It is intended for anyone interested in discovering how to make their own way and means of dwelling more affordable, sustainable and liberating thereby being able to help others do the same. As awareness of our collective crisis increases, the need for those who can recognize, understand, and implement sustainable alternatives will be substantial. Sustainable Energy Expo and Conference
The Sustainable Energy Expo & Conference brings together the buyers and sellers of sustainable energy technology and services, including wind power, solar, PV, biomass, hydrogen, geothermal, wave, tidal and fuel cells. Designed for commercial and government consumers of energy, the expo and conference will support sustainable technology as a mainstream and realistic energy source and will generate positive media coverage for the sustainable energy industry, exhibitors and sponsors. This event is unique in its cross-industry scope, and also offers a valuable international perspective, building on our recent sustainable energy events in London and Singapore.
North America's First Conference and Tradeshow Addressing All of the Sustainable Energy Technologies in One Place As the first event of it's kind in the U.S., Sustainable Energy Expo & Conference will provide a national platform demonstrating the products, viability, and benefits of sustainable energy to a commercial and government audience. Comprised of a comprehensive conference program conducted by industry experts, an exposition featuring products, services and technologies from the world's leading suppliers, and countless networking opportunities, Sustainable Energy Expo & Conference will provide a vital commercial and educational opportunity for all professionals within the energy industry. The Right Time at the Right Place Sustainable Energy Expo & Conference will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA. One of the largest solar powered buildings in North America, the LA Convention Center is ideally located at the heart of one of the country's most active and receptive markets for sustainable energy.

Takes a look at vinyl, the world’s second largest selling plastic. With humor, hope and a piece of vinyl siding firmly in hand, the filmmaker travels to America’s vinyl manufacturing capital and beyond in search of answers about the nature of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Her parents’ decision to “re-side” their house with this seemingly benign cure-all for many suburban homes turns into a toxic odyssey with twists and turns that most ordinary homeowners would never dare to take.

Sustainable Agriculture and Fair Trade: Finding Sustainable Models in Agriculture and Trade for People and the Planet
Cuba has been selected for special recognition by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) because of the extraordinary progress it has made during the last decade in creating model programs in sustainable development. In 1999 the Cuban Association of Organic Agriculture received the alternative Nobel Prize known as the “Right Livelihood” Award for its comprehensive conversion from chemical to organic agriculture. The delegation is a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of Cuba’s environmental policies and programs; the significance of the Cuban model to other countries of the developing world; and how professionals from the developed world can work together with their Cuban counterparts to promote sustainability world wide. … Additionally, the delegation will examine the issue of fair trade and international markets for organic products. Cuban organic sugar, chocolate and coffee (also shade grown) will be topics of discussion and site visits. Articles on Sustainable Development in Cuba
