Donations Wanted:

Used or Unwanted Computer Equipment

I am involved with a collaborative project between the Graduate School of Education, the Center for Science Education, and the Oakland Unified School District called Project FIRST, Foundations in Reading through Science and Technology. Through this project, elementary students receive tutoring and after school support in reading embedded in a curriculum of science and technology. Space science, in particular, has proven to be of very high interest to these students, allowing us a great medium to help them develop their reading skills. We are also using as much technology as possible with these children, including helping them create web-based writing and e-mailing other elementary students across the country.

Unfortunately, our technology resources are very limited. At this time we are looking to add more computers to our site to increase the technology aspect of our instruction. This is where I hope you can help. We are looking for donations of computers, monitors, printers, or anything else that will help us create a functioning computer lab for our students. If you've recently upgraded your computer, are moving, or are simply looking for a place to donate your equipment, please consider Project FIRST. We can use either PCs or Macs. Even if you have only parts and not a whole system, we would appreciate your contribution.

If you are willing to make a donation, please feel free to get in touch with me by email or phone. Thank you!!!
