Sustainability Discussion Groups

The Northern California Earth Institute
(an affiliate of the NorthWest Earth Institute) offers five discussion groups based on readings and discussionquestions, assembled in course readers:

1. Deep Ecology
2. Voluntary Simplicity
3. Bioregional Perspective: Discovering your Natural Community
4. Choices for Sustainable Living
5. The Year 2000 Problem: An Opportunity to Build Community

NCEI programs strive to build a community of committed individuals who will actively participate in creating a healthy and sustainable world-- a goal which seems very much in line with those of ADPSR. A volunteer from NCEI can make an introductory presentation for people who might be interested in one or more of these discussion courses. Once a group is constituted, an NCEI volunteer "mentor" attends the first meeting and introduces people to the process of facilitation; thereafter, the group meets on its own.

Are there members of your organization who might have an interest in taking, or disseminating these courses? They can be offered in workplaces, neighborhoods, faith communities, etc. If you would like to chat or have questions, please contact me at my email.

Thank you!
